Bitcoin Is Holding $80K. But Altseason Is Still Missing. $BTC is still holding around $80K after briefly pushing above $82K. But the bigger market signal is not Bitcoin's price. It is breadth. Bitcoin dominance is currently around 57.5%, meaning Bitcoin still controls a large share of total crypto market capitalization. And the Altcoin Season Index is sitting around 39. That is nowhere near the 75 threshold required to classify the market as an altcoin season. This changes how I read the current rally. A stronger $BTC does not automatically mean an altseason is coming. For that to happen, we need to see sustained relative strength across a much broader group of assets. My first confirmation would be $ETH. If Ethereum starts consistently outperforming Bitcoin, I would then look for confirmation from $SOL, $XRP and $BNB. After that, I want to see whether higher-beta names such as $SUI, $APT, $AVAX and $SEI can participate without Bitcoin losing its structure. The DeFi sector is another important test. $AAVE, $UNI, $CRV and $PENDLE need more than isolated pumps. They need sustained performance that shows liquidity is actually moving deeper into the ecosystem. The same applies to infrastructure. $LINK and $ONDO are on my radar because broader RWA and infrastructure participation would be a much stronger signal than speculative rotation alone. There is also a macro reason not to chase the first green candles. Bitcoin recently pushed above $82K before retreating after stronger-than-expected U.S. jobs data. The next major catalyst is September CPI, which could influence expectations around the Federal Reserve's next decision. So my thesis is simple: Bitcoin can remain bullish without the market being bullish on altcoins. That distinction is important. If $BTC consolidates around $80K and dominance begins falling while $ETH and major altcoins outperform, then the rotation thesis becomes much stronger.
