Solana's approval of SGP-0002 is less a supply shock than a test of network economics. The vote, backed by about 176M SOL and roughly 67% of voting weight, only narrowly cleared the two-thirds threshold, while implementation still requires development and a mainnet upgrade. Slowing issuance by about 18.9M SOL over six years may reduce dilution, but the stronger signal will be whether fee revenue can replace lower new-token rewards without weakening validator participation.
